Watch a Bolero Dance Come to Life in a Time-Lapse Oil Painting!

Check out this time-lapse video of me painting two quick dance studies set to Bolero music!

Titled “The Bolero’s Lilt, A Couple’s Dance” (42 x 30 cm, oil on hardboard, 2019-2020)

and

“Romantic Bolero of Two Lovers” (30 x 42cm, oil on hardboard, 2020), this oil painting series depicts the beautiful and passionate Bolero dance.

Bolero is a slow, expressive, and sensuous rhythm dance originating from the Spanish tradition. It is a combination of the dance patterns of Rumba and the rise and fall action of the Waltz, and is often referred to as the “Cuban Dance of Love”.

As its roots are in Afro-Cuban and Spanish folk dances, watch how I bring to life this romantic classic on YouTube:
